ASOIU Students Visit the Vegetable Research Institute
Students of
the 4th year of the Food Engineering specialty of the “Technology of Organic
Substances and High-Molecular Compounds” chair of the Azerbaijan State Oil and
Industry University, accompanied by department lecturer Nargiz Sultanova, paid
an academic visit to the Vegetable Research Institute.
Within the
framework of the visit, the students were provided with detailed information
about the modern research activities carried out in the institute’s various
laboratories. Head of the Agrobiotechnology Laboratory Zerbayim Babajanova
informed the students about obtaining virus-free, healthy planting material
from local and introduced plants using biotechnological methods, especially
through apical meristem culture, as well as the detection of viruses in
economically important crops using the ELISA method.
Head of the
Functional Analysis Laboratory Khadija Hasanli explained the preparation of
samples for liquid and gas chromatography and the procedures for determining
pesticide residues in food products. Senior researchers Nazrin Rahmanova and
Zaynab Guliyeva provided extensive information on the analysis of soil samples.
Head of the
Processing, Storage and Quality Laboratory Sevda Adigozalova presented the
technologies of fruit drying and storage in detail. In addition, senior
researcher of the Seed Production Department Majid Adigozalov and leading
researcher of the Greenhouse Vegetable Growing Department Zenfira Aliyeva
highlighted key aspects of seed expertise and evaluation to the students.
The main
purpose of the visit was to familiarize students with modern biotechnological
and chemical methods applied in food engineering, to increase their scientific
interest, and to encourage them to engage in research activities.
