ECOFFIN: Sustainable Paraffin Innovation Project

A groundbreaking collaborative project addressing CO2 emissions from rocket launches through sustainable paraffin technology development.

Project Overview

A group of students from ASOIU's UFAZ and ADA University teamed up with international researchers to develop the Sustainable Paraffin project (CODAGE). This initiative directly addresses two important UN SDGs:

  • SDG 7: Affordable Clean Energy
  • SDG 12: Responsible Production and Consumption

Key Team Members:

  • Elgun Hasanov (ASOIU Department of Chemical Engineering)
  • Emin Khalifayev (ASOIU Department of Chemical Engineering)
  • Turan Ahmadov (ADA University)
  • Ismayil Huseynov (ADA University)

Technology & Impact:

The solution uses a patented reaction catalysis combined with ultrasonic wave treatment. This innovative process results in a sustainable paraffin that reduces CO₂ emissions by an impressive 27% - a significant advancement toward addressing the alarming amount of CO₂ emitted by rocket launches (300 tonnes per launch, with 2,500 launches expected in the next decade).
